DropBox Help

 

  1. Upload Your File/Folder:
    • Web: Log in to dropbox.com, click Upload, and select your file/folder.
    • Mobile: Open the app, tap the + icon, and choose to upload from your device or record.
    • Desktop: Drag and drop files into your Dropbox folder on your computer.
  2. Generate the Share Link:
    • Web/Desktop: Hover over the file/folder, click the Share icon (or right-click and select Share).
    • Mobile: Tap the "..." (ellipsis) next to the file, then tap Share.
  3. Create/Copy the Link:
    • In the share window, click Create link or Copy link if one already exists.
    • By default, this often creates a link for "Anyone with the link".
  4. Set Permissions (Crucial for Open Access):
    • Click on the current permission setting (e.g., "Anyone with the link can edit") or Manage.
    • Choose Can view if you only want them to see/download, or Can edit if you want them to add/change files.
    • For truly "open" sharing (no login), ensure the setting is "Anyone with the link" (view or edit).
  5. Share the Link:
    • Click Copy link to get the URL.
    • Paste this link into an email, message, or document. Anyone with the link can access the content without logging in.
